don't feed the problem

Take Ritalin like a drug
because it's nothing but
We're not fixing problems- lets all pop pills
The FDA claims it – the mass falls in line
You're doctor puts a name on it
Wear the disease like a crown

It's a sad truth
We put together our own pain
A box of potatoes
Nut butter jar of liquid chemical corn
Get that prescription filled
Break the bank at the grocery store

The seat belt won't fit
So make poor excuses
Drive through the window
Get extra sauce, don't forget a straw
There wasn't enough sugar
So go somewhere else for more

Haven't had a vegetable since Tuesday
Take a Tylenol
Blame it on the genes
That we can't fit through our own doors
So we buy more candy bars
And hide them in sock drawers

Would you listen to me if my name ended in MD?
Could you change your next meal
or has the substance got your hooked?
Are you looking to feel a change?
Or just how you look?

Could you break bad habits?
Do you keep a smile in a bottle?
Are you looking to save your life
Or another pill to swallow?

Are you confused about what to eat?
Or do you not really care?
Are you trying to find help
Or are you totally unaware?

You have the opportunity to turn it around
You can make smarter choices
Start eating from the ground
